As a therapist specializing in acute and chronic pain conditions I understand that the process of engaging another PT feels daunting and opens up, yet again, feelings of vulnerability. You may be looking for more in your therapeutic relationship. This takes insight and courage, especially if you have not had success in addressing and working through your particular aspects of suffering. Being proactive and wise in “simply” researching therapeutic options for yourself is a sign of your refusal to give up.

Your resilience and sanity may be wearing thin. Yet, you have taken the initiative to visit my site, and to read these words. Whatever the injuries or illnesses are that bring you here—you’ve already begun the process of this personal undertaking to lessen your suffering.

What makes me different is that my approach to health and healing involves a multi-disciplinary approach. Not only does it sometimes take a village but it also takes thinking outside the box such as understanding the importance of the mind-body connection. I am injury-trauma informed (pain, grief, anxiety, PTSD).

Having worked for 38 years in major out-patient hospital settings in San Diego and Portland I have encountered numerous debilitating conditions. Complex medical cases often cause us to feel stuck. We suffer more when we have nowhere else to go and no other practitioner to turn to for additional answers. In the midst of all this we experience ourselves as unbalanced, fragmented, and “all over the place”.

My approach is to identify the source(s) of pain and collaborate on a path to healing while working through aspects of your suffering with mindfulness training if requested. My clients may feel alone and isolated, disconnected, and sometimes struggle with chronic negative thoughts, beliefs and feelings. They may have low self-worth and feel they are “not good enough” because they can no longer participate in what is “expected” of them. They may feel anxious, nervous, and unable to find ways to relax and reduce their burden of pain.

My therapy addresses more than your particular musculoskeletal condition. For example, you may be in the midst of a major life transition while experiencing loss and thus are grieving what you once knew.

Despite what happened to you, you could be on the verge of discovering more refined pleasures and in so doing find your authentic self, your true identity, and/or your life’s purpose. You are the one true expert in finding your path to health and healing. I am merely the well-traveled, passionate, and resourceful guide who can help you get there. Side-by-side we will mindfully explore the physical and emotional aspects of your healing and create a Plan-of-Care that is unique to you and your particular condition.
