Physical Therapy (Spine/Extremities)

Orthopedic Manual Therapy evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal pain, joint dysfunction, hypermobility disorder, stiffness.

People who struggle with chronic joint pain want to understand what they are dealing with.

Hans has created his own algorithm for chronic neck pain and cervicogenic headache conditions in addition to treating hypermobility disorders. Hans only uses gentle techniques and believes that spinal manipulations should be avoided.

Often, in the case of hypermobility disorders, diagnostic tests turn up normal. Or they have tried numerous different types of medications for their headache or migraine when a portion of their pain is related to a neck condition referring pain into head or face (a pain mechanism called Convergence via the Trigeminal Nucleus Caudalis).

Some have been to numerous other practitioners. Those who come to me refuse to give up on finding answers and solutions. The Physical Therapy assessment on your first visit will help identify the cause and source of the problem.

After your first visit you will have a clearer understanding as to how to maximize your body’s ability to heal whether it is through medical exercise therapy, manual therapy, or mindful awareness in body oriented therapy.Hans opened his practice after working at major hospital outpatient clinics in San Diego and Portland treating orthopedic and neurological disorders.

Hans wanted a quiet, private, spa-like environment that would be very comfortable to patients, while offering them more than your traditional Physical Therapy clinic.

The treatment sessions are one-on-one hands-on therapy. Hans has 38 years experience as a Physical Therapist, with a focus on treating most musculoskeletal disorders, including cervicogenic (neck related) headaches, neck pain, and numerous other disorders and foot/ankle issues, running injuries, which also involve exercise therapy.

Guided meditation, visualization, breath work, and imagery techniques are offered as well, if requested, as adjunct in treating chronic pain conditions.

He ranks in the top 5% of outpatient Physical Therapists in the US based on a 2019 survey (FOTO questionnaire).

“I wanted to create the kind of practice I could be proud of with expertise in high quality care and where I would want to be treated or would refer family and friends. I have had extensive training in mindfulness in addition to countless hours in joint and spinal disorders continuing education.”
